Balayage in Addlestone
If you love the idea of colour that looks effortless, grows out softly and can still look great months later, balayage is for you.
At Chop and Change, balayage is never about following a formula. We’ll create hair colour that is completely bespoke to flatter your face and complement your hair cut.
That could be about adding soft brightness around the face (often known as a money piece), a subtle lift through the ends or something a little more dramatic.
What happens at a balayage appointment?
It all starts with a consultation so we can really understand how you’d like your colour to look, how you usually style your hair and how much time you want to dedicate to looking after it.
If you’re new to the salon, you’ll also need a patch test to avoid any allergic reactions.
At the appointment your stylist will hand paint individual sections of the hair to add definition and interest to your look. We may even use multiple tones to create seamless blends as though you’ve been in the sun.
No two balayage appointments are ever the same, so it will be customised to what’s going to suit you best right now.
From soft, sunlit blondes to bright colour bleeds and instagram trends like French Brunette, iced cappuccino and cherry coke, balayage is the go-to technique for hair to turn heads.

Common Questions about Balayage
Will balayage suit me?
In most cases, yes. Because it’s completely tailored, balayage can be adapted to suit different hair
colours, lengths and styles. Your stylist will guide you towards the most flattering option.
Is balayage high maintenance?
Not at all. One of the biggest benefits is how softly it grows out, meaning fewer salon visits compared to more traditional colour techniques.
What’s the difference between balayage and highlights?
Balayage is hand-painted for a softer, more blended result. Highlights tend to be more structured and uniform from root to tip.
Can balayage be subtle or bold?
Both. It can be as natural or as noticeable as you like — it all comes down to how it’s tailored to you.
Is balayage only for blondes?
Definitely not. Lots of celebrity trends have made it popular for blondes, but balayage is perfect for creating multi-tonal expensive-looking brunette looks too.
Do I need a patch test?
Yes — if you’re new to colour or haven’t had one recently, we’ll need to carry out a patch test at least 48
hours before your appointment.
